Instead of TGIF, I have a new acronym for today. TGFAO, THANK GOD FRIDAY is ALMOST OVER.
I've had a pretty horrible day, which started with getting pulled over on my way to work this morning. Telegraph has a ton of construction on it and I decided I wanted to take a detour to get to Redford to drop off Adam. I was going to take Beech Daly, but my lovely husband suggested just taking Outer Drive to Ann Arbor Trail back to Telegraph. So, it sounded like a good idea so I decided to take it.
At the intersection of Ann Arbor Trail and Warren Road the light turned yellow just as I came upon it. It was raining and I was going about 30mph in a 35, stopping hard would've made me slide because of the wet road so I went through the yellow light safely, I never saw it turn red.
That IS NOT what the police officer at the gas station accross the street saw and he immediately pulled over the mom driving a mini-van. The usual, he got my license, registration and proof of insurance (thank GOD all were still good). He said he saw me go through the red light back there and I stated "I'm sorry officer but it was yellow". Before he went back to his cruiser he asked what my driving record was, now come on.... why did he have to ask me that when he's going to find out in 30 seconds!?!?!? Was he testing my honesty?
10 minutes go by and by this time I'm sobbing profusely all the while I hear Adam in the backseat "MAMA.... GO!" (he doesn't like when the car is stopped but I wasn't about to run from the police for my 2 year old) Then Adam starts asking "Mama alright?" to which I respond "No, honey mama's not alright, waaaaaa"
The officer gave me a civil infraction, not a ticket because he said I had a good record and the infraction wouldn't put points on my record or increase my insurance. He could see that I'd been crying (I'm very sensitive to be told I did something wrong when I really didn't) and he told me "It's not the end of the world." What nice man, are you sure that you giving me a $130 ticket for doing nothing wrong isn't the end of the world!?!?!?!? It wasn't the end of the world but it sure did ruin my day, jerk.
Then Adam wouldn't nap, has a cold and I'm exhausted the rest of the day. Plus I need groceries in a bad way but have no money to buy them.
Oh, and on my drive home down Telegraph I saw about 20 people who should've gotten the same $130 ticket I did.
